Poppy to Pomegranate

After convincing Afghan farmers that pomegranate profits would be more than what they make from poppy production (the base of cocaine & heroine), they’re working to convert their fields into pomegranate orchards.
You can even adopt a tree (£8 a year) and get updates about its progress and the family/tribe who are taking care of it.
Great story, great charity.

I guess I’m just tired of white America thinking that foreigners are always against us or evil (especially the foreigners with different color skin or religion). The people of any country are rarely in line with its leadership. Most people (of any race) just want to enjoy their family/friends and survive. The poppy farmers weren’t doing it to provide richer people with a high, they did it because it’s what they had & knew to make a living.
If you want change, provide & support an answer.
